Dear members of the HSGTRM, I wish you a happy and creative New Year 2022.

Τhe following announcement is made, just in case anyone of you is specifically interested. The field is wide and includes a high number of topics; if you have any questions, please write to me directly:

Aglaia Athanassiadou

Guest Editor

Special Issue on “Progress in Non-Viral Gene Transfer for Gene Therapy Applications

Non-viral vectors for gene therapy, presenting a non-invasive to the genome approach, are emerging as the new generation of DNA vectors for Gene Therapy and I am currently editing a Special Issue on “Progress in Non-Viral Gene Transfer for Gene Therapy Applications” in the journal Genes (ISSN 2073-4425; IF 4.096). As the Guest Editor, I would like to invite you to contribute a paper on a pertinent topic.

I believe it is important that contributions derive from the whole spectrum of engagement, that is from groups with long and high standing in the field to those engaged in an intersection with a gene therapy topic, presenting valuable data and credible opinions, which will enhance our common understanding and increase the impact of this Special Issue.

Accordingly, I would be delighted if you would consider submitting a review or research article to this Issue. For further reading, please follow the link to the Special Issue website at:

The submission deadline is 20 June 2022. You may send your manuscript now or up until the deadline. Submitted papers should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Genes is an online, peer-reviewed, open access journal, with more than 5000 published manuscripts, indexed in major scholarly databases (Scopus, SCIE, PubMed, MEDLINE, PMC, Embase, AGRIOLA and many other databases). As an online open access journal, papers published in Genes receive rapid publication, immediate accessibility, and high publicity. To support open access, Article Processing Charges (APC) of 2000 CHF currently apply to all accepted papers.

If you are interested in contributing a paper, you can contact me or Shirley () for more details. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

The Society
The Hellenic Society of Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine (GeneRegTher) was established in 29th of June 2014 at Volos, Greece, in an assembly of the founding members. The mission of our Society is to catalyze the interaction among scientists who work in Greece, establish collaborations with Greek scientists on the field working abroad and promote all the activities relative to gene therapy, cell therapy, regenerative medicine and to the field of advanced medicinal products.

The Strategic Goals of the Society are the following:
• The promotion and distribution of science and research related to gene therapy, cell therapy and regenerative medicine
• The provision of consulting services for advanced therapy medicinal products,
• The support of postgraduate education and research programs.
• The pursuit of excellence in gene and cell therapy and regenerative medicine for the benefit of science and of the society at large.
• The continuing updating and training of physicians and scientists in order to more efficiently serve the medical needs of the society.
• The assurance of compliance with the rules of Good Medical Practice for all relative to our field of expertise, therapeutic applications.
• The contribution and cooperation of foreign scientists and organizations in the activities of the society.

Membership status of the society
1. Full Members: individuals (physicians, biologists, biochemists, pharmacists, chemists, technicians, nurses and other bioscientists) who are employed on a constant basis in the field of gene and/or cell therapy and/or regenerative medicine in Greece. Greek scientists who are employed on a constant basis in the field of gene and/or cell therapy and/or regenerative medicine abroad.
2. Corresponding Members:
• individuals, physicians and other bioscientists, working in Greece in fields indirectly related to gene and/or cell therapy and/or regenerative medicine,
• physicians under specialty training,
• undergraduate or postgraduate students or individuals who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate, master, PhD or scientific program related to the aims of the society and
• non-Greek physicians and other bioscientists working abroad in the field of gene and/or cell therapy, and/or regenerative medicine.
3. Associate Members: individuals or legal entities who have a significant financial contribution to the Society are eligible to become associate members. Associate members can be simple members, donators, benefactors and great benefactors according to the level of their financial aid; the board of directors determines the amount of the donation that designates the different associate member status. The duration of the associate member status is temporary and valid for the next fiscal year
